Attic insulation · Colorado Springs

Stop heating the sky.

Most Colorado Springs attics are under-insulated by 30–50%. Add R-value, seal the air leaks, drop your winter heating bill 15–25% — and qualify for Colorado Springs Utilities rebates that cover much of the cost.

Blown-in attic insulation upgrade by Total Restoration & Roofing in Colorado Springs — 15-25% lower heating bills, CSU rebate paperwork included

15–25% lower heating bill

Insulation is the cheapest comfort upgrade you can make. A typical Colorado Springs home recovers the cost of attic insulation in 4–6 winters via lower gas/electric bills.

CSU rebates available

Colorado Springs Utilities offers rebates for attic insulation upgrades — typically $0.50–$1.00 per square foot of conditioned space. We file the paperwork as part of the job.

Year-round comfort

Insulation works both ways — keeps heat in winter, keeps heat out summer. Bonus rooms over garages stop being uncomfortable.

What we install

Two products. One outcome.

Blown-in cellulose

Recycled-paper insulation blown to whatever depth you need. Best for adding R-value over existing insulation, fills every crack and corner. R-3.7 per inch.

Fiberglass batts

Pre-cut rolls for new construction or full attic re-insulation. Faster install, slightly less R-value per inch (R-3.0). We use it in walls and where blown-in is impractical.

Air sealing first

Before we add a single inch of insulation, we seal the air leaks — around can lights, plumbing penetrations, the attic hatch, the top plate. Insulation over leaky penetrations underperforms by 30%. We do it right.

Ventilation — the other half

An insulated attic still needs to breathe. We balance intake (soffit vents) with exhaust (ridge vents) so moisture escapes and summer heat doesn't cook your shingles from below. Proper ventilation is also required by most shingle warranties — including the Owens Corning and Atlas systems we install — so we verify it on every insulation and roofing job.

Recommended R-values for Colorado Springs: attic R-49 to R-60 (15"–18" of blown cellulose). Most homes built before 2010 have R-19 to R-30 — we top them up. See ENERGY STAR's seal-and-insulate guide for the national recommendations behind these numbers.
