Insurance Claim Assistance
We Work With All Insurance Carriers
Filing an insurance claim after a hail storm can be confusing. Total Roofing supports you through the inspection and adjuster-meeting stages — filing, negotiating, and settling the claim itself remain between you and your insurer, and all coverage decisions are your carrier's.
Step 1: Free Inspection
We perform a comprehensive inspection of your entire exterior — roof, siding, gutters, windows, and paint. Every area of damage is documented with photos and measurements you can share with your carrier.
Step 2: You File Your Claim
Once you've reviewed our inspection report, you file the claim with your insurance company. We can coordinate the adjuster site visit with you but the claim itself is yours to file.
Step 3: Adjuster Meeting
Our experienced team meets your insurance adjuster at your property. We walk the roof together and point out documented damage so nothing on the roof is overlooked. Whether damage is covered — and at what amount — is your carrier's decision under your specific policy.
Step 4: Supplements (Handled by Your Adjuster)
If the initial estimate misses documented damage, we provide additional photos and measurements to your adjuster; any supplement request goes from the adjuster to your carrier for review. Whether a supplement is approved is up to your insurer.
RCV vs. ACV: Know the Difference
Replacement Cost Value (RCV) is the full cost to replace your damaged property. Actual Cash Value (ACV) is the depreciated value — what many policies pay initially. Recoverable depreciation is released by your carrier after the work is complete; we'll provide the paid-in-full invoice and completion documentation your policy requires.
Know Your Rights in Colorado
Colorado law protects homeowners in a roofing claim: your contractor can't waive or pay your deductible, you have the right to cancel a roofing contract within 72 hours of your insurer denying the claim, and you're entitled to a roof built to current code. The <a href="https://doi.colorado.gov/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" style="color:var(--tr-brand);font-weight:600">Colorado Division of Insurance</a> is the state authority if you ever have a dispute with your carrier. Considering an upgrade while you're at it? Independent <a href="https://ibhs.org/hail/relative-impact-resistance-of-asphalt-shingles/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" style="color:var(--tr-brand);font-weight:600">IBHS hail testing</a> shows Class 4 shingles dramatically outperform standard — and most carriers discount your premium for installing them.
Permits Done Right (PPRBD)
Every reroof in the Colorado Springs area requires a permit from the <a href="https://www.pprbd.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" style="color:var(--tr-brand);font-weight:600">Pikes Peak Regional Building Department</a>. We pull the permit, install to current Pikes Peak Regional Building Code, and schedule the final inspection — it's included in every job, never an extra. A contractor who suggests skipping the permit is a contractor who plans to be gone before the reinspection.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Don't accept the first estimate without a second opinion. Don't let your claim deadline expire. Don't sign with a storm chaser who won't be here next year. Choose a local Colorado Springs contractor who stands behind their work.
